Turn it Off

At one time, about forty or more years ago, we had a few sources of news: the newspaper, television, and radio. Other than word of mouth, if you didn't have those sources, you had no connection to anything that was going on. I sometimes wonder how much we were missing in the news back then.

In some ways, it was a good thing because you didn't have the worries of the world coming at you every minute of every day. Nowadays, you have to turn off the news, for it is constant around us almost to the point of being unavoidable. Occasionally, I will be in a conversation and mention a major news event, and the person I'm conversing with doesn't know what I'm talking about. How does this happen? But if you think about you just have to turn it off and tune out, something we should do every now and then.

98.6% of Americans Agree

In a recent survey of Americans, they believe __________

This is where you fill in the blank.  The news media controls what you think based on surveys. However, they do not emphasize only 100 people of probably like-minded individuals of the same political party with a +/- degree of error.

Is this a fair assessment of how the American people think?

As of 2021, there were 331 million people in the United States.

100 people surveyed do not determine the general opinions of millions of Americans.

We often see surveys telling us we are either in the majority or minority, but this is not the reality.  Decisions are being made at a corporate and government level to manipulate what you should believe, and that propaganda is destroying America.

Wake up, America. Think for yourself. Do not let someone else tell you how to think or what you should believe.

Who wants to be President?

Today's news will be entirely about a former President and the current president. Both are under criminal investigation. But depending on which primary news channel you watch.  You will more than likely only see one side of these two stories.

I'm speaking of the Biden-Hunter hearings and the Trump indictments.

The President of the United States was once a respectable office where the young would aspire to one day become the leader of the most powerful country in the world. But if you have a son who is a drug addict and has illegal financial dealings with China or former President Trump is under investigation by anyone with progressive imagination who can conjure up a fake charge to possibly be indicted and put in jail.

Who would want to be President?

So, if you are guilty (Biden/Hunter) or innocent (Trump), there will always be the ones who want the opposite of who is currently in office.

Who do you currently want as President of the United States?

The Freedom of the News Media

Freedom within the news media should be open to all points of view. Reporters should not be censored from the agenda of the media management. Reporters should be free to speak their minds without repercussions from those who hired them.

A few weeks ago, two prominent network reporters were fired. They had a large following. Both expressed their views from the conservative and progressive points of view. I'm not defending either one; each person should draw their own conclusion based on their values. My point is that freedom of speech in the press is critical.  The influence of media management on their employees should not be a factor. I realize it's all about profits, but we have to have news sources, and that news, whether right or wrong, is a mainstay for information.

Think about this moment; cut off all news sources (which we should occasionally do), no TV, radio, newspapers, or internet. Word of mouth would be the only way to know what is happening. The news at that point would have to be passed on from person to person. This example might seem extreme, but it demonstrates how much we rely on our news sources.

Today's news about the end of Title 42 is a critical piece of information. Why? Because it is estimated that 10,000 illegal immigrants will cross the southern border from now on. This week cities have reported preparing for the massive influx of illegals.

The news is a critical element of our daily life. We should always stay informed about current events because it will affect us in some way or another.

Get Ready

Watching the news lately can be overwhelming, but I fear it will worsen. If you are following the recent train derailment, this will be a bigger problem than the government officials tell us. The chemicals released into the air and waterways are not going away. This will have a long-term effect for years to come.

And Ukraine is another story where the worst is yet to come for the Ukrainians and the world.  The fact that Russia has pulled out of the nuclear weapons agreement signals that Russia will do whatever it takes to conquer Ukraine.

Getting ready for the ripple effect of these events is a tough issue to resolve when it comes to being prepared because of the unknown. But, at a minimum, everyone should be thinking about the three basic needs of food, clothing, and shelter individually because you should rely on something other than the federal government to help you.

Overflowing Politics

The news is overflowing with politics.

  • The midterm election results are still being counted.
  • Donald Trump announces that he will run for president in 2024.

  • Kevin McCarthy is elected by the GOP as the next Speaker of the House.

  • Ron DeSantis overwhelmingly wins re-election as Governor of Florida.
  • Joe Biden goes to China.
  • John Fetterman was surprisingly elected as Pennsylvania Senator.
I'm sure I will have some comments about one or more of the above headlines in the upcoming days.

What's in the News?

An indication of the current state of our country is mainly portrayed in the news headlines.

Here is a short list of some of the news headlines for October 14, 2022.

  • January 6, hearings
  • Trump - Mar-a-logo documents
  • Raleigh Shooting
  • Potential Nuclear Attack
  • Ukraine/Zelensky
  • Inflation
  • Climate Change
  • The Border
  • November Elections
I can see how someone would not follow the news; nothing good here.

What does this say about us as a country? How did we get to this, or how did we allow this to happen?

Media Game Plan

The Biden Administration is playing a game with us. And the game is how many ways they can manipulate us into believing that this is the most successful presidency in the history of the United States.

A few weeks ago, gas prices started to come down, and within a few days, during the White House press conference, they mentioned how the economy is improving. This lasted for a while until no one complained about the gas price. But now the price of gas is going back up. They had the game plan to manipulate the press to convince the public that everything was okay. Distraction is the primary goal of the game.  Once the white house gets a negative spin on the news outlets, the game plan goes into effect. If you haven't noticed this yet, just watch any progressive news, and you will see how quickly the White House responds to take out anything negative every time.

Another example from this week,

"But the POTUS' latest flub is even more cringeworthy than when Biden said the first lady's husband had tested positive for coronavirus this past March, when in fact it was second gentleman Douglas Emhoff who was sick. Because in this instance, the 79-year-old called out a recently deceased member of Congress during a hunger conference, seemingly unaware of her high-profile accident (via AOL).

"Jackie are you here? Where's Jackie?" Biden wondered aloud while thanking the meeting organizers, including Jackie Walorski, who tragically passed away in a headline-making car crash over the summer (via Reuters).

Later, his press secretary waved away the cringe-inducing moment."

Be aware of the media game plan because the goal is to convince you all is well and that this is the best president in the history of the United States.

Decipher

 Continuing from the last post...

Should journalists/media report all the news, good or bad?

I believe they are responsible for reporting both because they are lying to us if they don't. They are withholding the truth.

The news is so biased it is hard to decipher what is true and what is not.

Just my opinion...

Renewal and Good News

I'm looking forward to the Spring and Summer months. It is a time for renewal, like most folks will do in January with resolutions. The outdoors is being renewed daily; something new is growing and thriving, and the critters are multiplying.

I try to renew myself every morning - the start of a new day because yesterday was history. I will admit it has been difficult with all the bad news, and I have expressed much of that here. And too much bad news makes it challenging to have a positive outlook daily.  Most of the information we get is fed to us - not much of choice. I realize some folks only get their news once daily, and the odds of getting some good news are slim. So, you must try searching for good news and renewing yourself in several ways.

First, try to find some good sources online for the good news content that works for you, social media pages, hashtags, blogs, or websites, and go there every day.

The second is to establish a prayer life.  Connect with your Creator, read the Bible, reciting your prayers at a minimum in the morning and evening. Re-connect/Renew your relationship with God daily.

2A

Ukraine is the dominating news story on any channel. Most of the commentary has been fairly consistent, reports on where the Russians have attacked, how the Ukrainians are responding, all of this is a standard message being reported.

Except - the reports of the Ukrainian government ordering men 18 to 60 to stay and fight.  As of this morning reports of 18,000 guns have be distributed to anyone who wants to fight for their country. The impact of this is similar to our Revolutionary War, where citizens fought along with the military to repel invading forces.

Why are the major networks not reporting on a government arming its citizens?

Because, it would just reaffirm our US Constitution and the Bill of Rights on the 2nd Amendment. They have reported and supported the end of American citizens owning firearms for years. I believe this is one reason why America has stayed free for so long.  Social media will eventually get the word out that armed citizens are a critical element in the defense of not only a country but for everyday personal protection.

The Battle of Debates in the Political Parties

The battles of the election are in full attack mode.

Some say the election is over, others say its not.

What is the root cause of these battles?

The news is the primary instigator.  We receive are daily information in a wide variety of news formats, television, social media, and actual newspapers, all of these and more are affecting how we choose are battles of the debates about our differences.

Now with that said, some people are more prepared for debate than others.  And what I mean by debate is the discussion of the current political arguments.  I have learned that in any debate one must be able to understand and discuss the opposing viewpoints.

But here is the problem, if the only information received is one-sided you can not begin to understand the opposing viewpoint. And from that point on the battle begins.  People involved positions of government i.e., senate, congress and the presidency all have their opinion on how things should be ran, without giving any thought to the people who opposed them. So, to gather their weapons and to strengthen their armies their opinions are given to the news media or the recruiter's.

People have a tendency to believe what they constantly hear or read and anything outside of the "normal news" must be wrong. The only way for the battles to end is a simple understanding of ones point of view.  I have had political discussions with those who completely disagree with me, but in the end it usually comes down to respect and a mutual statement of "we agree to disagree".

Crime

I was watching the news this morning.

A reporter interviewing a man about a crime that had happened in his neighborhood.

The man stated "it was a crime gone bad"

Hmm - is there such a thing as a good crime?

A crime will always have bad results, and if for some reason a person is not caught in the end they will have to answer to God.
