No Football

The top news story today is about the Super Bowl.  This is to be expected because of all the hype that traditionally surrounds this major sporting event. Everyone cheers for their team, or they have wagered a bet, and some for the halftime show and commercials.

I, for one, did not watch it.  I am a former fan of the sport, a season-ticket holder, and a fantasy football fan player. Several years ago, I was saddened when all of the wokeness infiltrated the league. I was a fan because of the sport itself but mostly because it was a uniting event with no politics, no agenda, no X-rated halftime show, and an overall patriotic demonstration of two of the best teams in the world of an American sport. America seemed to be united, and political differences were put aside, and for the day, it was about the game of football.

The NFL, the Grammy award show, and other Hollywood liberals are doing their part with those who want to change how America has traditionally viewed the values for which this country was founded.  The Judeo-Christian values have become a thorn in the side of those who want to make America progressive to the point where anything goes; no matter the agenda, there would be no limit to what is said, no limit to what is shown. The one way to fight back is to voice your opinion openly and not give into the woke society pressure just because it's the popular thing to do.

June

June is the official month of summer.

Each month, there is a particular theme that lasts the entire month. In the past, each month usually had a holiday, or it was the preceding month for a change in seasons.

I think we should go back to those days; the current themed months for the year are out of control to the point where businesses change their logo to fit a particular cause.

What is next? a cause or theme for the week.

And another note, the traditional holidays have taken a backseat and are no longer part of each month. Example: Christmas, a holiday that is celebrated worldwide. When was the last time you saw a business change its logo for Christmas? Have their employees inserted Merry Christmas into their email signature?

Time to Speak up

Now is the time to speak up about conservative issues. But as a general rule, conservatives are reserved its just the nature of how we do things. But we need to step out of our comfort zone and talk about things like pro-life, faith, protecting and country and communities, limiting government regulation, secularism, traditional values, protecting the Bill of Rights, marriage between a man and woman. These are in no particular order of importance, but all need to be discussed. So, when topics like these come up, talk about them not out of anger, but in a civil and polite manner, because that is what we do. Now is the time.

The Library

The Public Library is the internet of the past. The time before computers, the library was the only real source of any information. Anyone in school who had to research a particular topic had to go to a brick and mortar building, look through hundreds of paper cards in the card catalog. (a large wooden box). You would go flip each card to find the dewy decimal number assigned to the book you wanted. Then you proceeded to find the book only to discover it was not what you were looking for and the cycle started all over again with the card catalog.

Now-days, this seems old, but at the time it was a well-organized system of looking for books and information. Libraries across the nation are combining old with the new. Now computers have replaced the card catalog, but you still have to find your book.

I still enjoy having an actual book in my hand. There is something about turning the pages that are reminiscent of researching a topic. The turning of pages back and forth to make sure you understood the words on the page.

If you haven't been in a while, go to your local library you might discover something new.

Christmas Mailings

On December the 16th the US Postal Service process over 600 million pieces of mail.

Interesting with today's technology that mail is still one of the primary sources for sending Christmas greetings. I know when I receive a card in the mail it is more personal than receiving an e-mail Christmas "card".

The Postal Services is going through some difficult financial times trying to survive and compete with e-mail. I'm not sure where the future of the first class letter will be 20 years from now, but I do believe the Christmas card will be a tradition that will be here for a long time.

Tradition

Definition: Tradition

From: Merriam-Webster

1
a : an inherited, established, or customary pattern of thought, action, or behavior (as a religious practice or a social custom)
b : a belief or story or a body of beliefs or stories relating to the past that are commonly accepted as historical though not verifiable
2
: the handing down of information, beliefs, and customs by word of mouth or by example from one generation to another without written instruction
3
: cultural continuity in social attitudes, customs, and institutions
4
: characteristic manner, method, or style

My conservative view of the world I feel sometimes is under attack. Yes, I believe that something’s should hold true to their traditions. Organizations that have a history of customs and beliefs are losing their traditions that have been passed down over the years. My issue is why a small percentage of the American population forces their views on these traditional organizations. These traditions have been tested and prove to be timeless. But when conservatives (traditionalist) speak up and say no we are looked upon as not progressing, stuck in the past, or old-time.
When will it stop?
The reason for my rant about this topic is we are headed down the wrong path. The progressive movement will gradually eliminate our long-standing American traditions. Moreover, as the progressive changes take place nothing will be left. As society will soon forget our time honored traditions and the progressive movement will change as often as the wind blows.
