The Wait

We wait for so many things in our lifetime; some are longer than others. We wait for the perfect job, waiting for the change in seasons, waiting for the line you are standing in to get shorter, and the list could go on and on.

But December brings us a particular waiting time. Waiting for a birth. The time of waiting for Christmas day. Sometimes the business market will push the limits on when this starts (Christmas in July), but the real wait begins at the beginning of Advent.

The anticipation of the Lord and celebration of His coming into the world as Fully God and Fully Human. Even as we celebrate this day year after year. It is a perfect time to renew ourselves. Just as Christ became new to the world, so can we become new within Christ and continue in the spiritual life. Advent is similar to Lent in preparation for the Resurrection.

We should primarily focus this week on the great day Jesus Christ came into our presence to dwell among us. This is the greatest gift we could receive for Christmas. No gift in a box wrapped in paper can be greater than the celebration of God becoming Man.

What is Normal?

Its hard to imagine what life was like in 2019.

Since then a pandemic, mandates, a weak US President, open US borders, social justice protest, and countries going to war.

Is this the new normal?  Are the days ahead of us going to be better or worse?

I wish I had the answer only time will tell.

2021

2021 The New Year or a continuation of 2020

I have tried to be positive about the upcoming year but it has been very difficult. The recent events of the breech of the US Capitol and continued BLM protest, it doesn't seem to be hopeful. The thought of a brighter future seems a little dim now.

My thought on this is somehow we need to find a common ground.  Politically its not going to happen anytime soon.

So, what will bring us together?

I wish a had an answer, but whatever it might be it needs to happen soon, because everyday that goes by our country will be divided even more.

Before and After

Just a few thoughts about about this point in time, our history.

I believe that the COVID-19 will mark a point in our lives when we will talk about time in terms of was that before or after the pandemic. Because it has effected every particle of the day-to day activities, from what happens at home, workplaces, restaurants, sporting events and the list could go on and on.  History will record how well we survived, the good and bad decisions, medical history in case this happens again.  All the lessons will be our history to go the books for future generations to read.

I wonder how history will describe this event?

New Beginings

The beginning of the year I'm trying to focus more of my attention to time.

Time is what governs us everyday it does not make any difference if you are retired and especially need if you are working.  There are thousands of books on the subject of how to manage time, but you can't control it. It is continually moving forward it never stops or pauses and never goes back.

My focus this year - to be more aware of time.  Each second of your life that goes by will never be repeated again.

How many of us have said at some point:
▪︎If I only had more time
▪︎If I could go back in time I would do things different
▪︎If I ........and the list could go on.....

Let's make the best of every second of everyday. Because it only happens once.  Be your best.

Suitcase Photos

I went to the flea market the other day and while browsing the various vendors I noticed a suitcase full of photos of people. These were not famous people, just average folks. Most of the pictures were taken 50 or 60 years ago.  As I flipped through them, I wondered about who they were and if those in the pictures still had relatives around. I know when I come across my own black and white pictures, I realize these are my one and only pictures of the past. Unlike today where pictures are stored on some device or on the internet. I also wondered if some of my own pictures will end up in a similar suitcase at a flea market. It is sad to think that those pictures had a story behind them, but because they have been separated the story will never be told.

Time

Time is constant it never changes. Why does time on some days speed up or slow down? In the course of a day the time varies depending on the events of the day.  In my younger days I thought time seem to slow down and nowdays seem much slower.   Why ?
