A Reality Check in Washington D.C.

Our lawmakers' mental and physical ability in Washington has reached a point where someone has to step up and make some decisions. If a House or Senate member is not physically or mentally capable of doing their job, they should leave the office.

If anyone in any occupation has moments of a mental freeze or has turned their decision-making ability over to a power of attorney. They would be asked to leave. We have heard the term career politician, but this doesn't mean a lifetime politician, meaning they are in office until they die.

Politicians, especially the ones in D.C., should be under term limits and be subject to evaluations if they show signs of any decline. These positions represent thousands of people in America, and they are passing laws that affect us.

If you live in a State and you question the capabilities of your representative, you should vote them out. Don't vote for them because they have always been in office; this hurts our nation.

Make a reality check on who represents you!

Who will be the next Speaker of the House?

The House is now under the political control of the Republicans. But it is undecided who will be the next speaker. So, at this point, I'm going to be critical of the conservatives. They have had plenty of time to debate this among themselves. I know politicians have always been about power and control, which goes for any political party.

But, come on! You would think after all the years of the Pelosi dynasty. The republicans could easily have someone in mind to clearly take control as Speaker of the House. I can see from most news reports that the agenda of what needs to be done is somewhat agreed on by most congressional republicans.

What is the big delay? The longer this goes on, the more division within the Republican Party will add to the democrats being critical of conservatives.

Reasonable Conclusion

What is really dividing our Nation?

The United States is clearly divided on the issues of the decisions made by the Supreme Court.

Why?

Two groups of people have existed since this country's founding. But who is right or wrong? Either side will point to the other and say they are wrong. So, how does one determine the right side?

First, we have to openly look and hear both sides. Once the facts have been determined to be accurate, one can come to a reasonable conclusion.  Now, this might seem too easy, but the problem is people do not listen; their predetermined minds have already decided the answer.

The bottom line is people have stopped listening. They do not want to know the truth. I realize people have experiences, traditions, and history that shape their thinking.  But for a civilized society to function, we must listen to one another, and clearly, not all will agree - what is the absolute truth?

Higher Decisions

It has been a topic for the last several days about when The Supreme Court will make its final decisions about several controversial issues.

The Justices have a critical role because their decisions will affect the laws of the land that will apply to every citizen; it is the final word. The main branches of our government, Executive, Legislative, and Judicial, are entirely separate; no one department has power over the other.

But I predict if their decisions go the way I believe, the President and the Legislative branch will somehow find a way to reverse their decision.

Before and After

Just a few thoughts about about this point in time, our history.

I believe that the COVID-19 will mark a point in our lives when we will talk about time in terms of was that before or after the pandemic. Because it has effected every particle of the day-to day activities, from what happens at home, workplaces, restaurants, sporting events and the list could go on and on.  History will record how well we survived, the good and bad decisions, medical history in case this happens again.  All the lessons will be our history to go the books for future generations to read.

I wonder how history will describe this event?

United

United We Stand

As the country re-starts the economy. Now everybody has an opinion about the pandemic whether it's who to blame or this or that could have been accomplished differently, it does not matter. We need to unite just as we did in the first few weeks when everybody was at home and the streets were empty. We seemed to be united during that time because we in someway suffered together.

The unemployment rate is the highest in years. We can all unite putting all political differences aside. Everyone needs to safely go out and buy goods and services in their local economy. This will jumpstart our cities bring the unemployment down and pumping dollars back for the rebuilding of America.

Rebuilding

In the upcoming months what will it take to rebuild?

Once the businesses start to fully open, we will have to go out and support the businesses in our local economy. The support we give by spending our dollars in these businesses will open the opportunity for employees to come back to work, for vendors to start selling and delivering supplies. This action will have a ripple effect. Our time out spending will greatly affect our nation's economy.

Next, I believe it is important to buy American, buy the products made in the USA and again the effect - employment opportunities and the economy grows in our own country. We should be able to support ourselves as a nation and not depend on another county for products that could easily be produced here.

Their Way

Just a bit of a rant about opinions. I have a few as most people do and usually when opinions are expressed it is because one person is trying to convince another to lean their way, and that is the way it works. But when people just accept a particular opinion without reasoning and accepting of a view just because someone said so, is crazy. Opinions should take in consideration the source - whose opinion is it? - have they been reliable in the past? - are their opinions respected? - or can they be trusted?

How can someone just read or hear an opinion in the media and accept as the absolute truth?

Opinions have to be evaluated by yourself - is it right or wrong? - good or evil?

Connected

Are we so connected to technology and or devices that we have become dependent upon them?

Is it hard to put your phone down?

Our connection to technology almost at times seems to be a necessary part of our daily lives. But do we really need to check our phones every few minutes?

I ask these questions because we have become slaves to our phones, computers and favorite apps. Don't get me wrong it is not all bad, but we need to set limits to how we interact with our devices and take time to interact with those people around us. And I'm guilty of all of the above myself.

Just try a simple observation - take moments during the day to look at the people around you. What are they doing?

Technology is part of our world, it is not going away and we will always be connected at anytime, but there has to be balance. Take time to talk to those people in your life.

Decisions

The decisions we make on a daily basis are important. Careful thought should be taken because the decisions we make today will effect tomorrow no matter how good or bad. Unless it is a life or death decision.

I believe as we grow older our decisions become more of a process of thought rather than a reaction to a situation, which sometimes are necessary. But decisions involving life changing events (marriage, career etc..) must not be made without some thought.

Free Will

Free will is like forks in a road. When we come to a juncture in our life where we have to make a decision. All the roads are clearly marked with both good and bad. God has his signs posted along with the others. Our decisions to which path will ultimately take will give results to the wrong or right decision. When we take the wrong road we realize we must change directions. And that is when the signs from God are the most obvious. The more we practice understanding our strengths and weakens of our free will the ability to see the signs of God will be clear.
